A Bit About Me

Absolute Proof
Proofreading You Can Trust

Many people prefer to proofread their own documents. But, for your writing to be proofread effectively, a fresh perspective on the material is a must. No matter how keen your eyesight is, you will inevitably skip over typos because you have seen them many times. You have reviewed your material so much that you have grown accustomed to them being there, and your brain has not acknowledged that there is an error.

During the line and copy-editing process, any inaccuracies will be fixed and your writing style tweaked. While these changes improve your document, they won’t catch every mistake, and can even generate an error during the editing process. A proofreader is the final check in the process, to make sure your work does not have any lingering issues. It is the last chance to fix any errors, make a few tweaks, and put the final polish on your writing before it is passed on to your audience.

Everyone needs a proofreader. Giving your audience a clear, concise, error-free document is not negotiable if you want your writing to be taken seriously. I will meticulously review your communication for typos, formatting, grammar, continuity, spelling, and punctuation. Detailed research will be done on all areas of concern, and suggested changes will be noted for your review and final approval.

I love to read, and my eye for detail along with my proofreading methods will give your communication that final polish so your audience can concentrate on your message. You offer great content, and it deserves great proofreading!

My proofreading service goes beyond the basics. I love reading and research and want to help you create the perfect document for your audience. I will give your document the detailed review it deserves, catching the errors you may have missed. Right from the start, I will communicate clearly with you regarding contractual details, style guide preferences, and deadlines.

My proofreading service will primarily focus on identifying and noting errors in the following areas:

Typos – This includes but is not limited to double or repeated words, transposition of letters, missing words, or errors caused by the autocorrect function.
Grammatical errors – Including such things as subject/verb usage, misuse of definite and indefinite articles, and misuse of prepositions.
Spelling and word choice confusions – Checking for correct spelling, proper use of compound words, number formation, and word choice confusion with soundalike words to name a few.
Punctuation errors – Verification to ensure there are no errors regarding things like missing or incorrect punctuation, misuse of hyphens, em and en dashes, apostrophes, quotation marks, or italics.
Formatting issues – The formatting of capitalization and numbers, incorrect spaces, inconsistent fonts, etc. will also be reviewed.
Continuity – A review will be done to ensure the consistency of expression, terminology, capitalization, context, and styles.
Adherence to style guide – Suggestions for changes will be submitted based on an industry-standard or your own personal style sheet.
